How They're Different - Why Join The Women's Nest?

Recently, Thinkhappy was asked how The Women's Nest was different than all the other sites for women on the web. This was her reply,

"The Women's Nest was my creation, and why? Because I felt a more personal site was needed for women. A site that takes interest in each member, rather than just getting an onslaught of people to join. I try to read about each member and respond to their posts personally. We are based on the East Coast and connecting women world-wide. We feel as though there is a real need for women to feel like part of a group, not just another one of the members. I do not hope to become the next ivillage :-) I hope to remain able to get to know each of these women on some level and meet their needs for our site. We are hosting feature articles and experts and I am often posting to inquire about what our members want. This is their community, it's just my idea :-)

I don't have much more of a slant than that. There are larger sites out there, many of them. But I think women want something more personal. Each member is missed greatly when they go a week without posting. Right now we have just under 300 members. It's about friendship, not just numbers - Escaping the chaos of our lives and trading it for a few minutes of "me time" and fun can make a huge difference for many women. I'd like TWN to be their escape....”

Home Office Tips

Lower the Noise Volume:

Noise in your home office can have a much larger negative impact on productivity than you may realize. Turn down the volume on the iPod, Tv, or Radio running in the background. Turn off loud office machines like copiers and humming gadgets.

Add Some Nature:

Spending long days stuffed in a room of artificial light and stale air is no day at the park. Place houseplants on or near your desk. Open windows for fresh air a few times each week when weather allows. Add a few pots of brightly colored spring flowers to your desk.

Separate Work Time From Family Time:

A home office helps us to allow our brains to physically separate our home based business from our homes. Designate your office space for work only. Having the ability to walk away from your work space or close the door to your home office at the end of the day may help you to devote your full attention to your family. By walking away or closing that door you can focus on your kids, home work, or dinner plans instead of worrying about email that may need to be checked or dashing off in between doing the dishes to return phone calls that can wait until tomorrow.
